Our Harvest Festival 30th Anniversary Event on September 21, 2002 A Great Success!

We celebrated 30 years of service to our community and our purchase of the Grove Building, on September 21st. Everyone who attended our event enjoyed a sunny, warm day of fun, food, great music and amazing entertainment. When you visit our page with the pictures you'll discover scenes of Ballet Folklorico, the Prescott Clowns, the United Capoeira Association, the Oakland Military Institute Drill Team, the McBride School of Dancers, the White Horse Harpers, and the Starry Plough Musicians.

The children enjoyed the entertainment, the Book Mobile, the face painting and the snow cones. Some even toured the fire engine. Many of the children went home with stuffed animals donated by Mom & Pop Green Foundation.

On behalf of PSS and the Community we want to thank our sponsors for this event: the PSS Board of Directors, the City of Oakland, Excel Graphics, the Port of Oakland, SOULBEAT KSBT-TV, KQED, Core Communications, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, Oakland Firefighters Random Acts, and Mindseye Productions. Supporters include Safeway and Alberston's stores.

PSS received commendations for 30 Years of Service and Tim & Roberta McCoy received commendations for their generous establishment of a Charitable Remainder Trust with PSS as their beneficiary. The commendations came from Governor Gray Davis, Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Assemblywoman Dion Aroner, 14th District, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Mayor Jerry Brown, City of Oakland and Mayor Roberta Cooper, City of Hayward.
