Demand for our services continues to increase.
We see children and adults of varying ethnicity, with a substantial
number of cases involving trauma and abuse. Treatment can be
between three months and several years. Training for therapists
focuses on child therapy, family therapy, EMDR and now also
includes sand tray therapy.
Our therapists often work with clients that have multiple and
deep-seated issues concerning an abusive family history that
is inhibiting their ability to parent in a loving and supportive
manner. Treatment can involve working with a child individually,
with one parent, parents, and/or with the family as a whole.
Success stories include parents being able to differentiate
their needs from those of their children, who in turn, are able
to experience the love and support they need.
The counseling therapist team includes experienced
licensed staff as well as trained interns. This program coordinates
closely with both Family Support Hotline
and Families in Transition.
A new focus in the future will involve infant
mental health, which offers the opportunity to collaboratively
plan with other community resources, including Children's Hospital.
